RIVUS is the Latin word for river. We chose this name in honour of an ancient riverbed that passes by our vineyard. Located at 39.25° latitude, Bodega & Viñedos Patagonia Valley is one of the most southerly vineyards in Argentina. With a desert climate and an average annual rainfall of 250 mm, the area is ideal for the development and ripening of grapes. The temperature differentials of 20°C between night and day give superb colour, flavour, acidity, and structure to the grapes. In the vineyard, our winemaker, Augusto Ripoll, is highly selective; growing no more than six bunches of grapes on any one vine so that all the plant's energy can go into every bit of fruit. The wine spends 6 months in French oak barrels to reach its maximum complexity and varietal expression.
